Story
I'm raising funds for the British Lung Foundation to support their valuable work. This is being done in memory of my Dad, Michael Illsley, or Mick as he was known to everyone, who suffered with COPD in his last years before he died on December 23rd 2016. Integrity was his middle name and he was a fantastic example to me of the man I should aspire to be. He is greatly missed.
A bit about me. I 'discovered' running in October 2017 - a bit of a mid-life crisis if you like, but seemed like a natural progression on my journey. A few years ago I weighed in at 24 and a half stones, before deciding I needed to sort myself out. Here I am now, where I am over 11 stones lighter (the before an after photos are at the top of the page), a runner - something which I never considered I'd be, let alone grow to love! I would have been taking part in three marathons in the spring of 2020, until lockdown, but am now taking part in a number of virtual events:
6th June: Virtual Chester Ultra (50 miles)
20th June: Virtual JOGLE (John O'Groats to Land's End) (825 miles)
6th July: Virtual Race to the Stones (100km)
18th July: Virtual Pennine Barrier Ultra (100 miles)
25th July: Big Pink Dress Virtual Half Marathon
15th August: Virtual Snowdon Ultra (100 miles)
6th September: Smalley Road Runners Ultra (50km)
13th September: Virtual Great North Run
