Margaret Leadbitter genuinely cared about people, we have received so many messages saying just how lovely she was, generous, kind and caring and is already greatly missed by so many. We have been asked by people to suggest a charity that would have been important to Margaret, to make a donation in her memory and to leave a lasting legacy for the future. 

Margaret was a great supporter of The Children's Society's work with young carers. Recognising that so many children take on caring responsibilities, often in isolation and look after their family by providing care for their loved ones with severe and acute ill health or disability needs. The work of The Children's Society gives young carers across England a chance to enjoy their childhood, understand the impacts upon their own health and wellbeing, supporting them to reduce negative impacts and to get the help they may need to achieve in their own future.     

Margaret loved children and young people, she found fun and amusement in the things they said and did, never judged their behaviour, thought they were brave and felt that all children should be valued and deserved to have fun, happiness and a decent chance in life and probably with a slice of cake too...…… 

These are all values that underlie the work of The Children's Society who reach out to children and young people facing multiple disadvantages and vulnerabilities early in life, helping them to get their voices heard and overcome adversities that they face early on.
