Who we are

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is an independent local charity that has been caring for and supporting those in our community who are in the last phase of their lives for over 25 years. We opened our doors to our first patient in January 1987 and we have cared for more than 12,000 local people.

What we do

Our specialist team of highly trained and experienced staff deliver a wide range of individually tailored care. At any one time we are caring for up to 240 patients, this is at the Hospice, within care homes and our local hospital; however the majority of our care takes place in peoples’ own homes.

Why we need you

All our vital services are provided free of charge, thanks to the generous support of fundraisers and donors. Only 13% of our running costs are currently met by the NHS and we rely on our community to fund the remainder, which equates to just over £7 million each year.

About the charity

St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides tailored end of life care both in the community and at our Hospice, supporting our patients living with a terminal illness, and their family and friends. We rely on the generous support of our community to raise the £8million we need each year to fund our services.
