Story
As most of those who knew Professor Colin Ingram will know, he was a hugely energetic person. This energy extended beyond his own research activities and his role as Co-Director of the Institute of Neuroscience to a number of international outreach projects. Colin was instrumental in laying the foundations of a growing partnership and exchange programme between the Institutes of neuroscience in Newcastle and Kolkata, which addressed Colin's ambition to bring neuroscience to economically deprived parts of the world. Without Colin's enthusiasm this partnership would never had the momentum to continue as it has after his untimely death.
In memory of Colin, we have set up a charitable fund (to be managed by Newcastle University) to raise money to support this project. How this money will be distributed, whether as travel bursaries or scholarships for students from India to come to Newcastle or to fund PhD studentships, will depend on the amount of money we manage to raise (this will be publicised on the Institute website (www.ncl.ac.uk/ion). We hope you will consider donating generously to this fund and please forward this information and link to this page to other friends and colleagues.
