Race to Lebrang · 17 October 2020

UWS works to ensure children have access to quality, inclusive education in remote and marginalised communities by collaborating with local partners, communities and governments. We deliver schools, we train teachers and we strengthen education systems.

Story

The Senior Prefects are excited to announce our plans to gather together as a community to do some good for children in a vastly different part of the world - we want your help, please, to support us as we Race to Lebrang over half term!

At 7382km from Ipswich, including 925m above sea level, and in one of the most remote parts of this underdeveloped country, Lebrang lacks the basic services we take for granted, including a basic education for children in those remote villages.

We want this to be a fun way to bring our House and Lower School year groups together in a race, of sorts.  It is nearly 7382km from Ipswich School in Suffolk to Lebrang School in Nepal.  Split equally between the six Houses and Years 7 & 8, this makes 923km per group, and approximately 10km per pupil in the School.  This is our target, for every pupil to be sponsored to walk, run, swim or cycle 10km over half term.

All donations will make a big difference to the Lebrang School pupils who will benefit so much from an education. With over 860 pupils running, walking, cycling or swimming for their House or Year team we hope every km can count!

Thank you so much.
