Martin's RBLR1000 2017

RBLR1000 2017 · 24 June 2017
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So, I like motorbikes and enjoy the odd challenge now and then. I'm not quite as young as I used to be and different bits ache and creak way too quickly so anything too physical is out of the question. And yet, if a challenge isn't , well, 'challenging' it doesn't really inspire and motivate me. Imagine a challenge where you sit down .....
Okay, so riding a motorbike isn't exactly just 'sitting down' but it is perhaps more of a mental than physical activity. Trying to ride 1,000 miles in under 24 hours, now that is challenging!
Of course, safety is paramount. It is actually quite possible to complete the challenge within the allotted time frame, without resorting to speeding etc. There is even time to take a certain amount of rest ..... but it has to be accurately planned and followed precisely. The key to success is in the planning and as such, the challenge can be won or lost before you even set off!
It is hoped that each rider taking part will raise £50 in sponsorship, as well as self-fund the challenge ie admin fee, fuel, bike wear and tear, food and drink, etc. I have set a target of £500, ten times the suggested amount. The challenge is as much about raising the funds and sponsorship as it is completing the 1,000 miles within the 24 hours.
I know there are a lot of financial strains in most of our daily lives and there's always someone 'shaking a charity box' at you, however, whatever you could spare would be most appreciated, every single penny. If you want to have one less coffee or one less pint to help me achieve my target, I will be very grateful.
I have secured my first company sponsor and will be actively seeking more. I have also setup a Facebook page and a Twitter page in case you would like to see how my preparation for the big event is going (please like, share and follow on both pages).
On the day of the event I will post a link, just before I set off, from a tracking app that will show my progress and location on most free maps (Google Maps, Safari/iOS Maps, etc) throughout the challenge. I will be able to see how many 'visitors' I have so feel fre to drop in at all hours as it will motivate me even more to know that I'm 'not alone'.
So finally, thank you in advance for whatever amount you can spare towards this very worthwhile charity.
