We are here for every cat to keep them happy, healthy and safe.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a small branch located on the Isle of Arran. The island is 20 miles long and 10 miles wide. There are several villages but lots of farmland and mountainous ranges in between, including Goatfell at over 2,800 feet.

We rescue stray and abandoned cats, foster and rehome cats and kittens, neuter both domestic and feral cats and kittens. This last two years we have been doing more work with ferals not only to improve their health and welfare but also the owned cats on the island.

One colony cost the branch over £2,500 in vets fees and transport alone but every one of them was found a new home! Not true ferals they had been used to people and some handling. This was a fabulous achievement for the branch against many odds.

Currently we are dealing with a very large colony bigger than the one above. We unerstood there were 20 and since then its risen to 24! The work started back in November 2018 and we expect it to go on for several months until we find them all new homes. The costs so far have been £1800 and we have raised £900 but desparately need help with the balance. we estimated at the beginning that costs might be in region of £1300 but sadly several were unwell and our costs have unexpectedly risen. The good news is that we have homed 5 with three more having been found homes and will be going to them shortly. This leave us with 16 but we are confident we shall succeed... we never say die! :) All the cats are worthy and deserve every effort we can muster!

We have a  Facebook page that we use to advertise our work and for educational purposes as well as to find homes or lost owners!

Our phone line is open 24 hours a day seven days a week.

We provide advice and help in whatever way we can, not just to Arran residents but also surrounding areas like Mull of Kintyre and outlying islands such as Bute, Islay and Jura where there is no branches or volunteers on site. Where there are people who look out for cats we will work with them in order to achieve the best outcome for the cats.

We have homed cats across the UK and see no boundaries to helping cats although our primary work is for the cats of the Isle of Arran.

We may be small but our hearts are BIG!

As with all branches we rely on donations but you can appreciate that such donations are limited here on the island both through limited numbers of people - there are just under 4500 people with around 1500 households. We are one of many charities represented on the island but the only one with a physical presence actively carrying out the work, through volunteers, of the organisation we represent.

Please can you help us increase our resources so we can keep pace with the cats desperately needing our help? For example it costs £55 to neuter a female cat and £40 for a male. Vaccinations cost approx £75 per cat. To feed a cat for a day costs a £1.Transport costs are higher than the mainland and we currently have an old vehicle that has high repair and maintenance costs to help us in our work.
