Story
As most of you will know, I currently work for a small
charity called Sutton Mencap and have done for over 6 years now. I have previously taken on the colour run, and Dry January as part of my fundraising for this amazing charity, and have now decided to attempt something more challenging (along with the rest of the sutton mencap team!) called 'the nuts challenge' involving a 7k muddy assualt course.
I work as a support worker and coordinator within the children's, youth and adult service's and have decided to raise money for this charity because I see first hand, how much each session benefit's our service users, providing them with the right support so each individual can take part in all activities and opportunities that they may not be able to within other settings.
My sister is also a service user to their adults services and has recently started their short break weekend's away, giving me an outside perspective on how beneficial their services can be. Since starting at mencap I can honestly say I've seen such a change in her personality and all round happiness since attending the sessions. She's become so much more independent within everyday life and built so much confidence in herself in such a short space of time, she's made some amazing friends and I have Sutton Mencap to thank for all of that. So I thought here's a chance for me to say thank-you and raise some money for the charity who's provided, not only my sister but myself also, with some life changing skills and experiences, a charity so close to my family's heart :)
