Skydiving to raise money for the Down Syndrome Association

50 for 50 WDSD Jump · 24 July 2021 ·
*** Thanks to Covid-19 the jump has been postponed to 20th March 2021 - thank you so much for all of your kind donations. I will of course still be throwing myself out of an aeroplane in memory of my uncle Johnny - I just have another year to contemplate it! ***
Saturday 21st of March 2020 is #WorldDownSyndromeDay and seeing as there’s no chance of me ever running a marathon - to celebrate I’ll be taking to the skies to throw myself 15K ft out of an aeroplane (in my odd socks!) to raise money for the Down Syndrome Association. In parallel with me will be 2 of my cousins and 47 other jumpers to commemorate 50 years of the wonderful work the DSA have been doing so that people with Down Syndrome (DS) can live full and rewarding lives. #50for50.
So why would I choose to do such a crazy thing and why for this charity you may ask?
Well I’ve always felt an affiliation to the DSA as I grew up living with my charming and witty Uncle Johnny who was sadly taken away from us 3 years ago aged 60 years old. He was the central pin of our family, forever equipped to put a smile on our faces with his mischievous manner and as you’ve probably guessed, he had DS. That extra chromosome sure gave him some extra sparkle and I feel it’s my duty to support the DSA to raise money to continue doing their work to increase awareness and put right any social misconceptions regarding DS. Additionally I highly doubt that without the support of charities like the DSA that provide facilities, education and healthcare to those with DS, that we would have had so many fantastically memorable years in the company of our lovely Uncle Johnny.
So in memory of the big man himself and for all those at present who still require the support of the DSA - I would be hugely grateful for any donations towards such a worthy cause!
(P.S I promise to publish all the ugly photos of my face mid-skydive if I meet my £500 target.)
Many thanks in advance,
