Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am 10 years old and for my Birthday last year I was given Midget Gem by my Mum and Dad, I have always wanted to take part in the Shetland Pony Grand National! I have never raced before (you have to be 9 to take part) and my pony Midge was just a pet before I got him. Together we have learnt to gallop and jump mini hurdles, and I ride him and look after him every morning before I go to school. The Shetland Grand National has races up and down the country at big shows and some racecourses, and if you are lucky enough to win one of the 12 qualifiers you qualify for the Olympia Christmas Show in December. This is my aim but I will have fun trying if we don't manage it as lots of children want to qualify on some very fast ponies! Hopefully I can raise a lot of money for the Bob Champion Cancer trust. My Grandma had cancer two years ago and was very poorly but new medicene helped her to get better and now she is really well again. If we manage to qualify for Olympia my Grandma will be able to go and watch me and that is fantastic.
My challenge starts at Musselburgh races on the 24th of April, me and Midge are taking part in a flat race, which will be good practice before the jumping races start. I can't wait, and have been getting lots of practice with my dad this week, learning how to get a good start, balance properly with shorter srirrups and give him a good push at the end.
I would be really pleased if you can help with a donation - every little helps. Thankyou to everyone for reading my story.
