A 2400-mile (3900 km) solo and unsupported bike ride to raise funds for North West Cancer Research with live tracking here https://goo.gl/EjTG2c and Strava updates here https://goo.gl/WTPvbN
Cancer. The very word is one that stops people in their tracks. Cancer has touched many families, indeed devastated many lives and few families have not been affected by Cancer in one shape or form.
Personally, my Mother is a survivor of cancer, Debbie my better half’s Mother was not as lucky. And my good friend Geoff Price died recently of cancer. It is an illness that strikes people and does not discriminate.
North West Cancer Research are leading the fight against this awful disease and I have pledged to raise as much money as I can for this marvelous organization.
Please please donate what you can to such a worthy cause.
The ride
Late in March I’ll board the overnight ferry from Hull to Europe for a rather epic 2400-mile (3900 km) charity ride starting in the Netherlands before crossing Northern Europe to Berlin. At Berlin, I’ll turn South to the old Saxon capital of Dresden and on to the Czech Republic and the Golden City of Prague and over the mountains and to the Danube in Austria. I will then follow this mighty river to Vienna and Bratislava before turning back for Rotterdam via Bavaria and the Hartz Mountains of Germany.
It is quite an adventure, even a penny a mile would make a massive difference for North West Cancer Research.
The ride will be run and verified under Audax UK regulations. The ride will be solo and unsupported.
