Story

It all started with a post saying "Ok so I have a plan??? Can't see much changing in the next three months, so I thought I would do something that gives people something to work towards & achieve a positive target....Interested??? It will keep you fit & raise money for charity??Still interested?? How about walking a marathon with me?? JJ's Allstars, raising much needed funds for St. Francis Hospice, our local Cancer Hospice.  I am going to plan a walking marathon for anyone interested......"

So here we all are, 50 individuals who have taken up a challenge and want to be part of something positive.  We will be walking either a full marathon (26.2 miles) or a half marathon (13.1 miles) based around our local area.  The main walk will be on Saturday 22 May [Covid permitting] starting at our local Park then moving onto the nearby roads and country parks, finishing at the Hospice.

Those taking part in this event include myself, Darryl Judd, Joby Judd, Reanna Clark, Sandra Twiddy, Sarah Baggott, Lily Wellman, Alanna Talbot, Janice Christmas, Victoria Christmas, Maria Green, Andrew Green, Gaynor Griffin-Stenning, Vicki Morris, Lesley Fuller, Inga Kerservice, Andrew Judd, Lisa Judd, Mariser O'Meara, Ella O'Meara, Tracy Burrett, Emily Burrett, Michelle Wilkes, Skye Larking, Nina Sandhu, Julie Leeper, Matthew Leeper, Keith Bullard, Margaret Fitzgerald, Ashlea Stevenson, Cath Bragger, Neree Sale, Elaine Salter, Kelly Osbourne, Tania Kirby, Jane White, Dan Jones, Nikki Jones, Sarah Buskell, Lindsay Matthews, Sue Fendt, Barbara Hall, Dee Mueller & Natasha Tilbury.

We all have our reasons for supporting this worthy charity, whether it be because we have lost loved ones, know someone diagnosed with Cancer, or just wanting to support family or friends.

"After losing our beloved Pops to Cancer last August, I wanted to help our local Hospice so they can continue to give the much needed guidance and support to other families going through what our family did.  It is not only the person with the diagnosis that suffers, it's those that watch them suffer too.  Pops received an amazing amount of care before he passed away, both from the Hospice and the NHS, so we now want to give something back." - Jules J from Gidea Park.

"I am supporting Saint Francis Hospice in memory of my beautiful little Sis Louise who passed away in July 2013.  Saint Francis Hospice provided such tremendous care and support to Louise and our family towards the end of her all too short life.  I will be taking part in JJ’s Allstars Marathon to continue my support for the Hospice.  Anyone who knew Louise, knows what a special person she was and how much her own bravery and strength for others touched people’s hearts." - Sandra T from Hornchurch.

"I am doing JJ's Allstars Half Marathon to raise much needed funds for St Francis Hospice who supported, and continue to support myself and our children, following the passing of my husband Steve.
Steve died aged 49 from a very rare cancer which nobody, but his consultant, seemed to understand, until the Hospice stepped in with their Hospice at Home Team.  They did everything they could to make our lives that little bit easier and to support both Steve and myself.
Steve passed away in the Hospice, after a very short stay there, but we were so very grateful for the end of life care he received.
Please help us to enable this care to continue for others by sponsoring our walk." - Tania K from Rise Park.

"I'm taking part in this challenge to support Saint Francis Hospice who provided amazing care to my husband Paul, who died in August 2012.  They treated him with such care, dignity and respect and supported me and our two sons (then aged 9 and 12).  Everyone at the hospice works so hard to ensure that that there is help for those who need it, both at the hospice and in the community.  This is an opportunity to say thanks and give something back." - Julie L from Rise Park.

"I am supporting this great cause for the St Francis Hospice, as just under 2 years ago I sadly lost my Dad to lung cancer.  After a two year battle, he was finally placed in the care of all the staff at the Hospice.  The care, love and support that my family and Dad received over the last two weeks of his life was such a great comfort to us knowing he had the best possible care. I can't thank them enough." - Lisa Judd from Romford.

"I used to be a Marie Curie Nurse and I worked closely with the Nurses and Doctors from Saint Francis Hospice, especially with their Hospice at Home Team. They do amazing work and it is my wish, when the time comes, to die at Saint Francis Hospice." - Dorita M from Romford.

Please support us by giving whatever you can to help, any amount will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

JJ's Allstars
