Story

Hi,

First of all thank you for taking the time to visit this page.

PKD or Polycystic Kidney Disease affects around 70,000 people in the UK. It causes issues in the kidneys by small cysts forming that eventually grow in size reducing the kidney function to the point of failure along with causing many other health conditions.

It is a genetic condition and at present there isn't a cure for it.

My Mum was on dialysis because of having renal failure due to PKD and in May 2005 she received a kidney transplant which gave her her life back from the strains of dialysis.

It was amazing to see!

Her kidney continued functioning well till she died in 2018 and since then there have been further advancements in both drugs available, organ donation and transplant options.

Although affecting me and my family personally, by carrying out this adventure we can hopefully raise some more money to go towards vital research and funds to help contribute to the fight against this disease which I know can eventually be beaten!

It is going to be a fantastic, once in a life time trip and I look forward to sharing it all with you as we cycle down the country.

Thank you once again for reading this page and your support with it.

Adrian.

P.S. My friend Tim is doing the ride to help support the Friends of Danesbury and QVM who are a great stroke rehabilitation centre.
