Story
I am currently planning a bike ride from John O’Groats to Lands End in July 2011, this will consist of 10-15 days of solid cycling to cover about 850-875 miles (I don’t even own a bike!). I am doing this for the charity SANDS.
http://www.uk-sands.org/
In November 2008 my wife and I lost our baby girl to stillbirth 24hrs before she was due, and we still to this day have no answer as to why it happened. SANDS helped us both a lot through this incredibly difficult time with advice & random phone calls to see if we were ok. Their WHY17 campaign is slowing raising awareness of the fact that 17 babies a day die from stillbirth that’s 6500 a year, 10 times more than cot death.
Because of the enormous pain physically and mentally that my wife had to go through, I just felt utterly helpless throughout and doing something like this is the closest, I feel, I can get to what she went through.
