Story
I am running in the memory of my Uncle Eustace who sadly passed away from kidney disease last year.
Uncle Eustace long suffered from his kidney condition for many years and was first diagnosed when he turned 30. From then on his condition required him to use dialysis for the duration of his life. That was 4 times a week 4 hours each session. He was successful with kidney matches, with one lasting as long as 10 years but unfortunately both failed and was forced to go back to dialysis treatment.
Despite these setbacks in his life Uncle Eustace always had a smile on his face that could light up a room and a joke to match. He always remained resilient and positive around us all and was truly an inspiration to all that met him.
There’s so much more I could say about my Uncle Eustace, but put simply he was a beautiful person who always put his family first! He will be sorely missed by the people’s lives he touched and enriched.
That’s why we I need your help to raise money for The Kidney association. This is a group of people who volunteer their time and energy for the benefit of kidney patients. They hold information days for people who are identified as pre-dialysis to try to prepare them for the future - information is power. They organise social events for kidney patients including their families and carers. They represent kidney patients in politics to ensure that their needs in the health service are heard. They also have local support groups and a dedicated help line. Fundraising is an important on on-going process to keep the association running and that’s why I need your donation today.
