PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. We run HOPELINE247 0800 068 4141 a freephone confidential helpline staffed by trained professionals who give advice, support & information to anyone who is feeling suicidal, or concerned that a young person they know may be at risk

Story

Unfortunately, on April 23rd 2016 I lost my brother George to suicide. George was 19 years old and had the rest of his life ahead of him.

I am running the Derby Half Marathon to raise money for the charity Papyrus. Papyrus is a charity focused around helping young people if they are considering suicide, it's main aim is to provide support and advice to those that need it most. I am keen to raise awareness of this charity so that no one has to struggle on their own.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people, male and female, under 35 in the UK. In 2015, 1,659 young people talk their lives. This equates to over 4 people a day. Every year many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, or are afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling.

My aim is really to raise awareness and get people talking. Remember there is always people out their to help, and you are never alone.

I'd be really grateful if you could support me in getting the word out there and raising money for this amazing charity.

Cheers,

Jack
