Story

Too many people are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer to late. Already in stage 3 or 4

Having been persuaded by Billy my younger brother in 2011 to start running with him, we raced in two events,  The Denmead 10K and the Great South run.

We had so much fun running 10 miles around Southsea we agreed we would run it every year. Little did we know it would be the only time we would run together.

This is why taking up the challenge of running a marathon is so dear to my heart, I know Billy will be so proud of me.

Billy  was 42 when after waiting for a pulled muscle to repair rest and no running was advised by the doctor,  a private scan revealed  it was Pancreatic Cancer, with no hope of recovering he was given a few months to live, as he was already at stage 4.

A wonderful man so kind, caring, everyone that met him fell in love with him. He saw the good in everything and everyone.

He was an inspiration to us the way he handled the rotten hand he had been dealt. The only blessing that being diagnosed had ,was he was now getting the pain relief and care he needed.

We sat and talked ,cried, laughed together for hours, as very quickly this strong handsome man turned into someone who we did not recognise.

He said he had been blessed with a good life, many never making as many lovely memories as he had.

So many occasions, daily, weekly, yearly he has been missing.

We were heartbroken and 10 years later we still are, you just learn to live life as you know Billy would want you too

Your donation will hopefully one day help prevent other families having to go through the same pain my family goes through.

Provide earlier diagnosis meaning better care,  for those who do have to face the battle of Pancreatic Cancer.

 Thank you in advance 💜

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
