Alan Murphy our amazing Deputy Manager from our B&Q Weymouth store is off on his adventures again after successfully completing Cape Wrath in May. He will be joined by his partner Sandra Dale Hardware Team Leader B&Q Poole store. They will be completing The Southern Upland Way Trail over 14 days and nights on the 1st of November 2022 to the 14th November 2022. The nights will be spent wild camping in some of the most remote land in the UK. Alan and Sandra are hoping to raise £2000 for Shelter.
What Shelter do -They exist to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything. Yet every day millions of people are devastated by a housing emergency. Locally they offer one to one, personalised support with housing issues or homelessness. A free emergency helpline 365 days a year, to answer calls from anyone struggling with housing issues or homelessness. Free legal advice and their solicitors attend court to help people who have lost their home or are facing eviction. Online support for expert information about everything from reclaiming your deposit to applying as homeless, or you can speak to an adviser over webchat.
A bit about the challenge-The southern Upland Way is 344 kilometre (214 miles) coast to coast long distance trail in Scotland. The way is designated as one of Scotland’s Great Trails by NatureScot and the longest of the 29 trails. It is considered the most difficult of Scotland’s great trails to complete, passing through some of the UK’s most remote land. The route features more than 80 summits over 2000 feet (610m) but does not have any above 3000 feet (914m). The walk includes moorland some river and loch-side walking and does include a lot of forest walking. As it is from coast to coast it also involves cliffs and the sea at each end.
Thank you for taking the time to read and please donate any amount. Every little helps.
