We provide expert care and support to young people with cancer

Story

To fundraise for Teenage Cancer Trust I am cycling 350km on a mountain bike, over 4.5 days, in Tanzania from October 7th - 11th. We're camping or staying in backpackers lodges each night.  Having never really cycled before, I started training in April and would be extremely grateful if you could sponsor me.  I AM SELF FUNDING THIS TRIP SO EVERY PENNY DONATED WILL GO TO TEENAGE CANCER TRUST in the South West.

Most of us have been affected by cancer - my Dad died from it at the age of 59 which was devasting to me and my family.  Can you imagine what it is like to be a teenager and to be diagnosed? Or to be that child's parent?

Every day in the UK, seven young people are told they have cancer and over 200 are diagnosed across the South West every year. The Teenage Cancer Trust South West Appeal is funding specialist services and facilities for young people with cancer aged between 13 – 24 year olds across the whole South West.

This will include the construction of a specialist cancer unit in Bristol which will mean that for the first time young cancer patients aged 16 to 24 from Bristol, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, will be treated with others their own age, in an environment suited to their needs.

The charity has already raised £1.5million towards the £2.5million build but a further £1million needs to be achieved before the unit becomes operational in early 2014. The money I will be raising will go towards the Teenage Cancer Trust South West Appeal.

Thank you for sponsoring me.
