Story
Hi everyone!
A few years ago, my mum was diagnosed with Lupus.
This disease causes extreme fatigue, muscle and bone pain, reduced immunity to colds and flu, skin defects and scarring, hypertension and arthritis.
Unfortunately, the causes and potential cures for this disease are unknown. Luckily for us, our friend Matt is fighting for the same cause and he is doing an amazing job of increasing awareness across not only America, but across the whole world (see his page runningforlupus.com on facebook).
Lupus is common mostly amongst women, although children and men are also susceptible. Unlike other well known diseases, Lupus is extremely hard to diagnose. One of the main issues is that because so little is known about lupus, an elimination process takes place before final diagnosis. Unfortunately for those involved, this can sometimes be too late.
We're running this 1/2 marathon (hopefully full marathon one day!) to help spread the word and get people fighting for a treatment and cure for this disease.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated- it doesn't matter how large or small! Anything at all to help the cause would be amazing and we can offer hugs as repayment.
Thank you so much :)
Jade & Paul
