Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I was diagnosed with Renal Failure suddenly on 1st August 2011 age 6 yrs old. After an initial 6 weeks in Bristol Royal Children's Hospital, I was discharged home to start peritoneal dialysis for 8 hours every night. For the next 18 months this was my life to keep me alive. Unfortunately I started to get infections in my fluid, so it was decided to put a neckline in. This was the start of Haemodialysis. A 10 hour round trip to The Bristol Royal Children's Hospital from Brixham in South Devon 3 times a week. Until in April 2013 we received "the call" Mum and I raced to Bristol for tests and to see if the kidney was a suitable match. It was and once Dad joined us in Bristol I went to Theatre for my new Kidney, which I named Tilly. Since that day I have attended The British Transplant Games in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018. During these games I have won a total of 11 medals - 3 Golds in Cycling, 3 Silver medals and 5 Bronze medals. Following the Games in Birmingham this year I have now been selected to represent Team GB & NI in the World Transplant Games in Newcastle 2019. This is an amazing opportunity which would not be possible if a selfless family had not signed up to the NHS Organ Donor Register and transplantation. This is why it is so important for everyone to register onto the NHS ODR by calling 0300 123 23 23 or by logging onto www.organdonation.nhs.uk.

I am raising funds to cover my expenses associated with attending the World Transplant Games in Newcastle. Any surplus funds will go towards the Transplant Sport UK Management Team (including physios and coaches) who give up their time to support the team.
