Story
I'm fundraising for Sense, a charity that believes that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. It's great to be part of a true source of good in the world to people who need it. They help people without hesitation. People who otherwise may find themselves at a disadvantage or more difficult position to simply go about their lives. I truly believe that as humans, we naturally take things for granted the more we are accustomed to seeing or experiencing them and there is nothing bigger to grow accustom towards than that of our senses. How would losing even one of these effect your life? What would you miss most knowing what you know now? Simple questions but provoking deep thought and hopefully a sense of appreciation.
The reason I searched for an organization focusing on helping individuals with a loss of a sense or senses is because I follow a relatively new story of my friend and her family as they navigate their new roads with their one year old son being diagnosed with Usher Syndrome. The Stephens family is appreciative of organizations like Sense because they know first-hand what it's like to get the news, process, and turn around and start utilizing resources and providing the very best opportunities for their son, Preston. I strongly encourage you to follow Krissy, her husband Coleman, and their son Preston as they open their doors and invite you to follow along their journey. It's truly moving and inspirational to follow such caring individuals who provide the best for their son, raise awareness of the rare disease, and push for a cure. In a time of infinite distractions, I ask you to take a moment to consider others and specifically those affected by a debilitating disease and donate to Sense. Your donation, as little or as much as you're comfortable with, provides opportunity and relief to those who have been dealt a difficult hand but are determined to turn it around. If you're unable to donate, I would ask that you still look at what sense does on a daily basis at https://www.sense.org.uk/ .
Feel free to follow me as well on Instagram as I post updates about the fundraising and marathon training until race day on April 21st, 2024! https://www.instagram.com/neisesj1/
Thank you for reading, your donation, and your support.
