Personal Reasons
I have decided to run this Half Marathon for the charity Willen Hospice and in the memory of my Mum. My mum was in hospital for a very long time and without Willen Hospice, she would have spent her last days there due to a lack of any other options.
Thanks to a place like Willen Hospice, we were able to transfer her out of hospital into a comfortable and peaceful environment which is exactly what she wanted.
I want to raise as much money as possible to try and ensure that Willen Hospice can continue to provide specialist end of life care to many other people whilst also supporting their families.
This 13 mile Half Marathon will be by far the longest run I have completed and a big challenge for me to complete. It will be over 4x the distance of my previous charity run a few years back which was only 3 miles.
Any money that you can donate will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks :)
Willen Hospice Overview
Willen Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care for adults, focusing on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.
Often the most distressing aspect of living with life-limiting illnesses is the types of pain and symptoms which can arise. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers can give compassionate, specialist support to patients, and their family members, to help deal with, as they wish to, the physical and emotional effects of both their illness and treatments.
