Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 2nd October 2022 I will be taking part in the London Marathon in support of White Lodge. The charity provides services and support that enables those with a range of disabilities, their families, and carers to lead fulfilling lives.

I have personally seen the great work that White Lodge do through my Godparents (Joe & Tania) daughter being born at 24 weeks, weighing 1lb 11oz and spending 5 1/2 months in hospital. Olivia was diagnosed with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy and once home from the hospital required around the clock oxygen. In her first year, she was also diagnosed deaf along with a severe sight impairment.

It was at this point she was referred to White Lodge to receive regular physiotherapy, including hydrotherapy, OT and Speech & Language. The facility also provided a nursery for the first 2 1/2 years of her life, giving Olivia access to education and therapy all under one roof.

When Joe & Tania's world was falling apart, White Lodge were able to provide the support they needed to give Olivia the best opportunities to reach her potential. They were a lifeline and helped believe that anything was possible.

Olivia is now 21 and living independently at university, not to mention her endless achievements of representing GB in wheelchair racing and competing in the London Marathon to name a few! It is clear White Lodge were fundamental in Olivia's early years to help her reach and surpass her potential.

I, along with White Lodge would be incredibly grateful for any donations to help support another child like Olivia.
