Story

The Curlew is one of Britain's fastest declining bird species, showcasing a 46% decline in numbers between 1994 and 2010 alone. The causes of this worrying trend remain unclear, though with Britain holding around 28% of Europe's Curlew population, it is clear something must be done now to protect the species.

With this in mind, our team of young conservationists will be tackling the Yorkshire 'Three Peaks Challenge' in June 2017, to raise money for the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and contribute to their 'Curlew Appeal'. The money raised through which will go towards the continued monitoring of this iconic wading bird and, ultimately, contribute to the continued conservation of the Curlew in the years to come.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, and comprises around 40km of hiking over challenging terrain - sure to test those in the group who have not committed to anything of this sort before, myself included. We would be incredibly grateful if you would support our efforts and, in doing so, contribute to the conservation of one of Britain's most eye-catching and impressive bird species.
