Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

Our dear son James passed away peacefully on 24 July 2020 at the age of just 38 after a brave battle to the end against brain cancer.  First diagnosed with a tumour back in 2009, James had major surgery in 2015 and again in September 2019.  Throughout he continued to lead a full life with a very successful career as an HR Manager with Shell, working in the UK, Canada, Hamburg and latterly in The Netherlands.  In June 2020 he was taken ill again and returned to the UK home of his parents in Reigate, Surrey where he was able to remain to the end surrounded by his family and friends.  Marie Curie nurses helped us to look after him and we will forever be grateful for the loving care and support that they were able to give to him during his final days.  James is survived by his precious daughter, Elena and her mother, Sandra.

This JustGiving page has been set up in James's memory and myself and Kate, together with our daughter and James's sister, Julia invite all who knew James to give generously to Marie Curie.  Your gift will help to enable Marie Curie to continue the wonderful work that they do throughout the UK for those living with a terminal illness.

With thanks from myself, Kate and Julia at this difficult time.
