Poles of Inconvenience Rally 2023 · 16 July 2023 to 5 August 2023 ·
James, Tom and Ollie will be taking part in the 2023 Poles of Inconvenience, a month long rally around Europe attempting to collect as many ‘poles’ as possible. The challenge will put our 21 year old Renault Clio to the test as we tackle gruelling off-road ascents designed for 4x4s or simply visit ridiculously inconvenient mile-long piers in Latvia. It is not expected to be a breeze but a huge adventure!
As well as being a bit of fun, it is as much more importantly about raising money for charity.
RICE is a charity that we all feel very strongly about because we all have relatives who are affected by the disease and we have seen the devastating effects it can have. More than 850,000 people have dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051. However, there is currently no cure, and no new drugs have been licensed to treat the disease since 2002.
RICE is an internationally renowned charity which provides services and support for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. We undertake vital research to learn more about the ageing process, find new and better treatments, and improve the quality of life for older people. Furthermore, they have recently branched out into Parkinson's research and care too!
Furthermore, from a personal perspective, it is fantastic to be supporting a local Bath charity, a city that has become so close to my heart after 5 years at university there.
Please help us to raise as much money for a great cause and don't forget to follow our journey through @nicoles_nomads on Instagram!
