Story

My story starts 28 years ago when I was 17 waking up to a blizzard of floaters in my right eye as small parts of my retina became scarred. Since then, my vision in that eye has slowly deteriorated over the years due to Fuchs Uveitis.

In late 2017 I had cataract & vitrectomy surgery at Moorfields in an attempt to improve my vision. While the outcome was not perfect (a few complications), one of the toughest aspects during this +4 month recovery period was how it impacted me and the support I needed from friends (at home and work) and family to get through this and continue to enjoy life - thank you everyone!

At least I can tell you that my vision in my left eye is great ;-)

While I don't know what the future holds for me, I do know that for those that lose their sight, their lives do change completely. But we should not let those barriers stop people with sight loss from thriving.

That's why I'm fundraising in aid of RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) to make a difference to people when they need RNIB the most - support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss.

As for my London marathon challenge, I want to set some realistic expectations here. The last time I ran 11+ miles was when I was 17 years old (much younger, fitter & healthier). So doing 26+ miles this April, it's going to be tough. So please donate generously, it will keep me super motivated - thank you.

RNIB is a registered charity in England and Wales 226227 and Scotland SC039316.
