Brighton Marathon 2019 · 14 April 2019 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September I decided to do a lifelong aim of mine and run a marthon. After being rejected from my third attempt at obtaining a place in the London marthon I decided to enter the Brighton marthon and I actually got a place !!!
I decided to run for Mind as I can see the effect the mental health has on people around me. What really shocked me is the fact (in a mind survey) 20.6% of people had suicidal thoughts and 6.7% attemped suicide!! In 2017 in total 15,821 people committed suicide and approximately three quaters of them were males.
I think the work Mind do is so worthwhile. In 2017/18 they helped nearly 600,000 people in the UK through telephone calls or in local Mind services. Their online information site was accessed 12 million times and supported 9,000 people through a mental health crisis.
I know that a lot of my friends have done some incredible things recently, and I am really not expecting much but it would be great to achieve a lifelong goal of running a marthon and raise a little bit of money for such a worthwhile cause at the same time.
