Jane Tomlinson's Leeds Half Marathon 2012 · 13 May 2012 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Hey all! I'm running the Leeds Half Marathon on the 13th May. I'm running for The Stroke Assosiation becuase of all the great support they gave my family after my Grandad's stroke in 2010. Without going into details the after effects of the stroke were almost completely debilitating and whilst he's still the same lovely man inside the phsyical changes are hard to bear.

The Stroke Association are working both to help prevent strokes in the future and to improve the cures and rehabilitation currently available. Equally importantly they offer an amazing support network. My Grandad now needs 24 hour care, provided with good grace by his amazing wife. She would not be able to do this without their amazing support though.

I really hope to give something back and help them provide this same support for as many people affected as possible. I'm also anxious to help them improve the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected.
