Oxford Half Marathon 2023 · 15 October 2023 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hello everyone!

This autumn, we’re running the Oxford Half Marathon in memory of our Grandpa who passed away on the 22nd October last year after a long fight with Alzheimer’s.

We loved our Grandpa very much. He was kind, fun, a genuine genius, had a wonderful sense of humour and it is from him that we have our love for our Welsh heritage. Our Grandpa was incredibly clever, being a scientist in his working life, and it was heartbreaking to watch him lose his words over several years.

Alzheimer’s is an awful illness which affects everyone involved deeply, and we want to raise money to help Alzheimer’s UK to fund research which will hopefully one day mean another family does not have to go through the same experience. Whilst we both are keen hockey players neither of us have run a half marathon before so this will be a
challenge for us!

If you are able, please help us raise money for this important
charity by donating on our JustGiving Page.

Thank you!

James and Megan
