Story

It’s official; I’m taking part in the UCL Raise and Give society’s annual charity Jailbreak!

The idea is to get as far away from University College London as possible in 36 hours starting at 8am on Saturday 25th February. Seems pretty straightforward, doesn’t it? Well, there’s a catch - we’re not allowed to use any of our own money.

To get anywhere, my friend Louise and I will have to rely on the goodwill of people that we meet along the way, in the hope they will help us to move further and further away from London by whichever means of transport possible.

Before and during the challenge we will be fundraising for Breaking Barriers. Breaking Barriers is a charity that helps refugees coming to the UK to find relevant employment, based on the set of skills and education they possess. This plays a key role in giving the refugees a sense of community, which we both believe is very important.

Of course, all donations of any size will help towards this fantastic charity. If you want to find out more about breaking barriers, here is their website: http://www.breaking-barriers.co.uk

Cheers!
