I am aiming to take on the Beacons 50 trail run on the 7th August. The route is just shy of 53 miles with over 10,000ft of elevation gain over some of the most beautiful but challenging mountains in the Brecon Beacons. I have been training for this over the past few months, and was not my original intention to try raise money for a charity, but after speaking to a few people it seems as it would be a good opportunity to do so. 

During COVID and the subsequent closures of the gyms, I have discovered trail running as a means of maintaining my own mental wellbeing. Which, after a few chats recently, led me to choose Mind as the charity of choice in which to attempt to raise some funds for. They have locations all over South Wales, and their aim is to ensure that no one has to face their battles on their own. Having lost loved ones to illnesses that couldn't be seen on the outside, and with diminishing public health care funding and support for those still suffering, it would mean a lot to potentially save someone by helping a charity reach out to them. And also having a reason bigger than my own may be just what I need to keep me moving on the big day.
