On May 7th 2017 I will be competing in the Port Macquarie Ironman in Australia which entails a 2.4 miles swim (~3.8km), followed by a 112 mile bike ride (~180km) followed by a marathon. It will be a monumental challenge seeing as I have never run even half a marathon, cycled 50 miles or swum close to 2.4 miles. ***Please let's smash the target***

Mind is a charity that strives to help people that suffer from mental issues from suicidal thoughts, depression and eating disorders to self-harming, general self-esteem and drug addiction. Their aim is not only to help directly but also to raise awareness thus creating a society where anyone suffering is able to talk openly and therefore receive the help they need faster. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in a given year and without the increased awareness, the feeling of isolation may settle in. http://www.mind.org.uk/ This charity is of particular importance to me as I myself have had my experiences of mental instability over the years and it is these sort of charities that have the expertise to help no matter the situation, whether it be suggesting people to phone, people to see, or even just convincing that it is ok to talk about it to friends and family who will undoubtably be supportive no matter the situation.
