Story
Last year on 16th November I experienced a medical incident that
led to the discovery of a fast growing brain tumour known as a glioblastoma. On 20th December a team of neuro-consultants performed an awake craniotomy and, incredibly, I was allowed home the next day just in time to celebrate Christmas 2021 with my wife and family.
From the onset, I decided to be positive about the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis and see it as an opportunity to get on with life. One year on after surgery, a course of combined radiotherapy/chemotherapy and continuing ongoing cycles of chemotherapy to keep the tumour at bay, I am still here!
My next opportunity this year is to walk 100 miles. I will
achieve this by taking a number of short walks over 34 days beginning 16th November and finishing 20th December. These dates mark a significant milestone since the initial diagnosis of my tumour.
The proposed walks are not planned and will be short. They will
vary based on my treatment, day to day changing health and general good feeling. The intention is to complete at least 100 miles over the said period of time. Family and friends are welcome to join me on my walks.
I and my family aim to donate any funds raised to the Yorkshire’s
Brain Tumour Charity who raise money for research and patient support. Please support this worthy cause if you can.
