Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A lot of you may have known Sophie Byrne the beautiful daughter to Jane and Phil and Matt & Nina, sister to Oliver, Bertie, Lydia and Madeline.

Sophie had a very rare genetic condition called tuberous Sclerosis which made her life challenging and she spent a lot of her life in and out of hospital and Rainbows Children's Hospice.

Rainbows hospice holds a very special place in our heart. It's a place that helped us take care of Sophie throughout the whole of her life. It's an amazing place, filled with beautiful people. The staff are so committed to looking after very sick children and their families with such care and affection.

We spent the last few weeks of Sophies life in Rainbows, the care that Sophie received was outstanding. We made memories that are so close to our hearts and we' were helped to come to terms that Sophie's life was coming to an end.

Sophie Died in my arms, holding her Daddy's hand surrounded by our family and nurses and carers that adored her - it could not have been anymore peaceful . As a family we were all given, and still are given, amazing support from all of the staff. I believe that they are the reason why we are all so at peace with Sophie's passing.

We will never be able to thank Rainbows enough but as a family we are so lucky to be supported by so many friends to help us carry on raising money for this amazing place. We want to keep Rainbows alive and make sure that many more children can access the amazing care and support of all of the staff.

So We're off again SATURDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 2017 - the sequel. This year would have been Sophie's 16th Birthday so we're aiming to raise as much as possible.

The return ride is 60 miles, from Barton to Rainbows and back - or you can do one way (30 miles), return with bike can be arranged.

Suggested donation is £50/rider, all proceeds go to Rainbows Hospice.
Fancy dress encouraged!

Rainbows costs £5 million pounds a year to run. They have 10% of this funded, but the rest is purely raised through fundraising.
