Story

I'm jogging 28 miles in February to transform the future of pancreatic cancer.

Following a challenging few months with numerous blood tests, hospitalisations for sepsis and pancreatitis, my mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and underwent major surgery for the Whipple procedure in November 2022. Her treatment is due to continue with 6 months of chemotherapy starting in late February 2023.

Awareness of the symptoms, early diagnosis and early treatment are essential for a good outcome for those suffering with Pancreatic Cancer.  My Mum trusted her instincts that something wasn’t right and continued to seek medical support during the early months.

Whilst jogging 28 miles may not be the biggest challenge for a regular runner, it is definitely not my favourite thing, so whilst appreciating and acknowledging these financially challenging times any donations or words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated to help me along the way.

I’ll let you know how I get on with the challenge and thank you in advance for your support in whatever form that may be. I know many people support the many great causes out there, so any donations would be welcomed, but likes, and words of encouragement are also highly valued currency to me.

Many thanks,

Janine x

A few words from Pancreatic Cancer UK….

We're facing a pancreatic cancer emergency - too little has improved and too many people are dying. It's unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. But thanks to your support, there is hope.By donating to my challenge, you are making support available for people now and funding world-leading research to find that breakthrough in new treatments which is so desperately needed. For example, just £29 could fund further research to improve the speed of diagnosis. By working together, our actions today can transform the future for people affected by pancreatic cancer. Thank you so much for your support!
