I was lucky enough to get a place in the 2013 London Marathon, this is my first race at this distance following a couple of half marathon's and a few races at shorter distances.

Below is the story of Rowan Bowland, and the Trust set up in his memory.

Rowan (aged 9) collapsed, and sadly died, whilst playing cricket at Meigle Park, Galashiels. .

In Rowans memory his family set up the Trust.

Rowan Bowland Memorial Trust provides junior sports people, living in the TD1 postal code area, with assistance to enable them to further their sporting careers, whatever their chosen sport. The Trust recognises the ever increasing financial burden of training and competing at the higher end of sport and offers financial assistance to juniors who have shown proven ability in their sport.
