Story
10 years ago on January 9th 2008, my beautiful daughter Faith was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic - she was 3 years old. Her life was changed and ours dramatically to how we ever imagined it.
We don't celebrate the disease, we celebrate her living beyond it. We celebrate medical progression that helps her live life to the full and we celebrate insulin, because without it we would have lost her. Without it, we would lose her and I thank god everyday for giving me this amazing girl to love, protect and support and be inspired by. She shows me love, strength and ferocious bravery every single day. Yes we get down, frustrated, we worry and become anxious because of the complexity of the illness and its upsetting implications, but we look past that, we focus on the fact that she is a fighter and that she carries on in spite of it all. We rise above type 1 diabetes as a family and with continued fundraising and support from JDRF and the Type 1 Diabetes Family, we will continue to do so and get closer to that cure. A CURE TO CELEBRATE!
So, in a nutshell I am running 10 full marathons (1 for every year Faith has endured type 1), kicking off with Birmingham International Marathon on 15 October 2017 and ending with Leicester in October 2018. I will be running London and Manchester in April and of course keep you posted with the other 6 in between.
Please dig deep, your donations will really motivate me with all the miles and really do mean everything to me and my girl and the thousands of other sufferers of type 1 diabetes and their families.
Best wishes and all our love Jayne and Faith xxxxx
