Story
I'm running my first half marathon this September! AARGH!
Since my daughter Juniper's birth nearly a year ago I've thought a lot about what might have been. Juniper got stuck at the last minute and wasn't breathing when she was born, but some amazing midwives and doctors helped give us the best possible outcome. The alternative doesn't really bear thinking about. It's been a hard year in the wake of this, but we're ok. Better than ok. And because of that, I get to do ill-thought-out things like signing up for half-marathons.
So this race is a huge heartfelt 'thank you' to the universe: for letting me have this beautiful life, for letting me have my daughter, for letting me run around with friends on an autumn afternoon among ancient woodland while cursing bitterly.
After much thought I've chosen to run for Demelza, our local children's hospice, to support families and children who need all the love and comfort and fun and silliness and kindness we can offer. Demelza are an amazing cause (thanks so much Milly for the suggestion!) and so I hope you'll dig deep and give me some motivation for mile 13. Gulp.
You can find out more about the wonderful work Demelza do here: www.demelza.org.uk,
Thank you so much for contributing, with love & metta,
Jen (& Juniper who is going to watch) x
