Story
We’ve all been to Mcdonalds at least once in our life, which
means you have more then likely seen the charity collection boxes next to the till. But do you know anything about the charity your money is supporting? Do you drop your pennies in and think nothing else of it?
This charity is the Ronald Mcdonald house charity.
This special charity provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation a stone’s throw away from specialist children’s hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life.
I have chosen to raise money for this very special charity which
is particularly close to my heart, by running the London Marathon in 2018.
Back in 2003 when my younger sister was seriously ill in
King’s college hospital for 3 months, Ronald Mcdonald house in Camberwell saved my family.
This house meant that there was a warm inviting bed for my
mum who was at my sister’s bedside 24/7 rather than a chair or the floor and she could still be 2 minutes from the hospital rather than the 2 hour journey from home. It meant on the rare occasion my sister could come out that we could have half an hour as a family watching t.v or just being together. This house meant that my parents could switch bedside vigils and still be close to the hospital.
It really was ‘home from home’ for us as a family, it enabled us to have a small amount of normality in a time in our lives full of uncertainty and worry. This is my way of saying thank you.
Please donate whatever you can, to carry on helping families
during some of the toughest periods of their lives. Thank you
