Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2015, my Dad, Phil Bowden, passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack at the age of 63. At the age of 54, Dad took up a new hobby and that was micro-lighting and it quickly become his passion. At Dad's funeral, the minister recommended everyone taking up a new hobby in his honour.
I wasn't brave enough to follow in Dad's flying footsteps. So I decided to take up running and within 24 hours, I had decided I was going to run a marathon.
But when and where would I run this marathon? Then it came to me, I would run my first marathon in a place that held so many special memories. The place where we had spent our last family holiday for Mum and Dad's 60th Birthday and that place was the City that never sleeps.. New York!
So on Sunday 6th November 2016, I will be running 26.2 miles through the 5 boroughs of New York in memory of my Dad.
All money raised will be donated to the British Heart Foundation so they can continue their ongoing fight to beat heart disease.
Any donation would be gratefully appreciated no matter how small.
Thank You
