Who am I today? Will I be my mum's sister or will I be dating my Gran's brother? That side of Alzheimer's is the easier side to deal with. I haven't seen my gran for a while now and I'm not sure what I should say if she doesn't recognise me.
It's hard to understand the frustrations the memory loss causes which led my gran to lash out at the man she's been married to for over 50 years. She wouldn't have done it if she'd have realised.
As a result my gran has now been admitted to hospital after the doctors eventually recognised that she isn't well.
I don't know who I will be visiting but I have read that visits from family can really help because although my gran may confuse who I am, she'll remember the way she feels when I'm around.
I hope she remembers me when I visit, in some way.

The term 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms which can include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning.
