I will be walking 100k around the Peak District from Bakewell over the 6th and 7th July 2024.

Yes, it’s a long way, but through beautiful scenery and the training programme has already started!

As some of you will be aware, the last few years have been very difficult for our family with my dad, Paul, suffering from dementia. 

Following numerous falls and hospital stays, with his condition clearly deteriorating, we made the difficult decision that a nursing home is the most suitable environment for dad, and he has been receiving excellent care at Prestbury House, Macclesfield since December 2023.

Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia. Dementia is a very distressing condition for both the patient and their family, and we have been grateful for help from Dementia UK in the complex process of navigating the care system.

I would like to help more families to receive this support so no one has to face dementia alone.
