Let me tell you a little about CRY and why I am running to raise money for them. CRY stands for cardiac risk in the young; this is an organisation that does charity work to help provide screening for people who may be in danger of having heart problems. It also provides counselling services for family and friends of people who have been left to deal with bereavement.
As a teacher I am working with some of the most vulnerable people in society on a day to day basis, and have the privelage to get to know many of the pupils. One student in particular suffered particular hardships when her mum died 3 years ago, and she has been in and out of foster care since then. She is a fantastically bright and motivated young person, and instead of feeling sorry for herself, she wants to focus her energy on raising money and awareness of charities that can help support young people in a similar situation as her. She wasn't fortunate enough to have heard of CRY at the time, and could have done with someone telling her about it 3 years ago. Sudden unexpected death caused by cardio related problems is more common than you think, and leaves young people behind feeling vulnerable so they need all the support that is available to them.
Please help me support this charity for doing such a wonderful job, and help me raise awareness so that this young student, and others like her, hear about it so they know they have somewhere to turn. We are working in school to fundraise as well, as £350 is a big target! Please help us meet it.
