We use non-contact boxing to fight the impact of inequality on lives

Story

A combined team of Up & Under Sports staff and colleagues from the primary schools in which we work are coming together to run the Keynsham 10k on Sunday 6th October. We are doing this to raise funding for Empire Fighting Chance, a charity which supports and inspires vulnerable people across Bristol through the medium of boxing. As an organisation which shares many of the values which Empire Fighting Chance promotes and develops within the people they work with, we are delighted to be able to work in partnership with this fantastic charity.

Empire Fighting Chance

We use a powerful combination of non-contact boxing and intensive personal support to challenge and inspire young people to realise their unique potential. We focus on vulnerable young men and women, including those excluded from school, involved in crime and experiencing mental health issues.Run from gyms in deprived communities, we offer young people a tailored programme featuring boxing, mentoring, education, therapy and careers support. Our work changes lives, improving young people’s education, mental health and career prospects.

About the charity

Empire Fighting Chance was born on the streets to fight the impact of inequality on young people’s lives. Our powerful combination of non-contact boxing and intensive personal support challenges and inspires young people to realise their unique potential.
