Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Kidney disease affects over 3 million people in the UK, and is usually a silent disease. Kidney disease affects people's lives in many ways, often requires intensive treatments, and usually affects the whole body since kidneys are so critical for all aspects of life. Some patients develop kidney failure and then need regular dialysis of a kidney transplant. This is life-changing for them and their families.
Kidney Research UK funds critical life-saving research into all aspects of kidney disease that has a direct impact on patients' lives. Kidney disease never attracts the same attention as cancer, but the outlook for patients is worse in 2019 if you develop kidney failure than almost all cancers. I am a kidney Doctor and researcher, and have been involved in many research projects funded by KRUK which have helped patients enormously, only possible because of funding from the charity and generous donors like you. I know that all funding raised will contribute directly to improve the outcomes for patients with kidney disease.
