Endurance Life Coastal Marathon Series · 7 November 2009

World Vision believes that by working together with children, their communities, and our supporters and partners, the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children can be transformed. As a Christian organisation, we aspire to reflect God’s unconditional love in all we do.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For a number of years now I have been supporting a charity called World Vision who specialise in helping children in the poorest parts of the world. Whilst they do provide emergency disaster relief, their main focus is on the underlying causes of poverty which they address through local development and education.

I sponsor a little boy called Mandlenkosi from Zimbabwe and we regularly keep in touch with letters, photographs and birthday/Christmas cards. It is really touching to hear from him and to hear that he's doing so well. For £18 per month, less than the cost of a takeaway, I believe we are making a significant difference to the lives of Mandlenkosi, his family and the wider community.

So, I have decided to get my running shoes on and to try and raise awareness, and more importantly cash, for this very worthwhile charity. I will be entering the Endurance Life Coastal Trail Series (www.endurancelife.com), which is a series of seven tough coastal marathons/half-marathons, one a month running through the winter from November through to May of next year. I'll be doing the half-marathons (Eddie Izzard I ain't!).

Please check out the World Vision website (www.worldvision.org.uk) and if you are interested in what you see please sponsor a child, which you can do immediately from the website. Or even two. Alternatively, please sponsor me for as much or as little as you like through JustGiving.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thanks.
