Story
On September the 25th I am taking on my biggest
challenge: running (ok maybe jogging/walking) the Disneyland Paris half
marathon. Why am I doing this? ... I am running for my mum and to raise
awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Multiple Sclerosis affects over 100,000 people in the UK.
The nerve fibre coating myelin is damaged, meaning messages from the brain
don’t always reach the places they need to in the body and sometimes the actual
nerves can become damaged too.
In 2011 mum was diagnosed with primary progressive MS that
affects 10-15%. Seeing someone you love suffering from a degenerative,
progressive disease is heart breaking and currently there is no cure. Unlike
the other types (relapsing remittent and secondary progressive) there is no
treatment to try and help slow down the progress and deterioration.
I am hoping to raise money to help research so that those with
primary progressive MS will one day be able to have something to slow the
deterioration down and ultimately to help all by finding a cure. Please help me
fund this vital research. Anything you
can give really does make a difference.
