We provide specialist care and support to people with life limiting conditions

Story

In March 2020 I am going to embark on an extraordinary challenge for an extra-ordinary charity, “Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw”. I am going to walk from John O’Groats to Lands End, otherwise known as the End to End walk. This will include around 874 miles of walking and take around 7 weeks to complete. All donations collected will go directly to the Hospice. I am going to walk using public footpaths, national trails and small roads.

Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw is a charity I have had the privilege of being involved with. The Hospice provides end of life care for both Adults and Children along with respite, day Hospice support , complementary therapies, counseling and palliative care support. I had one of my student nursing placements in the Hospice where I was able to fully immerse myself in the high quality care and various different services. As a student nurse I have had the opportunity to look after many patients with life limiting conditions and also care for them at end of life. All donations that are given to the hospice go towards equipment, renovations and the employment of amazing staff.

If anyone knows of any equipment which can be donated , e.g. walking clothes. As well as any places to stay on route with a warm bed and shower would be incredible, please don’t hesitate to get in contact! I am currently going to be walking alone although I am also looking for people to join me for sections of the walk, if you can join me for 1 mile or 20 miles, the company and support would be amazing!

I am hoping to encourage lots of people to get into walking and raise lots of money for The Hospice. If anyone has any questions about the amazing charity I have chosen to support or about more the details of my journey, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
